Warning: spoilers for Battle of the Ages below!
With Pactian’s threat level established, let’s see how dangerous Gelida has become.
Gelida has risen to a level 8.5. She has improved as both a Temporan and warrior, as most Nix do. But her greatest gains have been political. She and Excidian have long had an agreement between them, that she would help him overthrow Delitor, and secure Delitor’s position, if he would help her overthrow the Central Alliance, and become its ruler. Now that the first part of the deal has been accomplished, she will not have long to wait to gain the second.
She should perhaps, be concerned that Excidian will betray her as he has Delitor. But there are a couple of factors that would make Excidian think twice before doing it. For one, Gelida has allies outside of him, who put her in position to conquer the now weakened Central Alliance, even without his help. Secondly, Excidian and Gelida are romantically interested in each other, which will prevent betrayal at least for a time.
