The Fantastic General Store: Hiring

Posted on January 6, 2026January 3, 2026 by admin

At the Fantastic General Store, we have our share of turnover. Some people retire, others move to new locations, and some just want to move on to something else. Selling to products to heroes and villains isn’t always easy. But stores need to be quicker about hiring new people. It shouldn’t take weeks just a fill the position of the average employee. Someone, or several someones if you’re lucky, have to take up the slack for the person who has left. In small facilities, or really busy facilities, that can lead to more turnover, since the workers may already be at their limit. Customers may need help at different ends of the store, and teleportation only works so fast. Management is another case where speed is needed, since the employees under the new boss need to adjust to the newcomer, and the other managers have plenty to do in their own departments. I know time needs to be taken to find employees who are the right fit for the position, particularly in the case of management. But the workers who remain shouldn’t get the impression the company is dragging its feet. It leads to suspicions that there is something wrong with the store. My point, hire people as quickly as you reasonably can. You may have to hire even more if employees don’t see progress.
