At the Fantastic General Store, as with most retailers, we train our new employees. Every company has its own way of doing things, and each individual store has its own quirks that need to be learned. The store in the Snow Queen’s kingdom isn’t going to operate the same way as the store on the lava planet. But there are two problems that can arise during training. The person doing the training must be good at their own job, and be good at teaching. Some people just aren’t good at their jobs. They may not have received proper training themselves, which happens more often than you think. They are a misfit for the position, which is often the case with henchmen. Or they just don’t care enough to improve, like many individuals in morality tales. Other people may be good at their jobs, but they aren’t cut out for teaching. Villains are often too impatient to give their underlings the guidance needed to truly learn. There also must be enough time for the employee to learn. Some people don’t learn as quickly as others. It’s not that the people who learn more slowly are less intelligent. They just learn differently. So, these considerations need to be kept in mind when training new employees.
