At the Fantastic General Store, there are times when it seems like management plays favorites. I can’t emphasize enough how bad this is when it does occur. Employees who aren’t the favorites feel like no matter what they do, it isn’t good enough, and maybe even feel like they get in trouble without deserving it. The favorites are allowed to do whatever they want, which hurts morale, retention, and customer service. I have seen employees, including other managers, quit over favoritism. If you want to make a villain, play favorites. If you want to turn into a villain, play favorites. Favoritism needs to be shut down as quickly as possible. Customers don’t care who your favorite is. They just want good customer service.
