At the Fantastic General Store, we have holiday hours, the same as most stores. Some stores are pretty quiet when people have an extra day off. The Snow Queen’s realm tends to empty out pretty quickly whenever the people who live there have time to travel to warmer climes and the nearest ski resort. Some stores are busier, but the employees want time off too. Cinderella can still cook a really good potluck whenever there is a royal festival. Of course, paying employees extra on holidays helps, but even that may not be enough. Reducing hours on holidays can also help, so then employees can participate in some of the fun that comes with the day. For stores that are really quiet during holidays, it would be best to just close them for the day, or even close them for the three-day weekend if the weekends are quiet too. It’s probably costing the store more to have the employees there, and the employees are more likely to stay if they know they are going to get additional days off.
